Navacerrada is a town located in the Sierra de Guadarrama, in the Community of Madrid. If you are thinking of visiting Navacerrada, here is some important information you should know:
How to get there: You can get to Navacerrada by car or by public transport. If you come by car, you can take the A-6 from Madrid and take exit 39 towards Navacerrada. You can also take the M-601 from Collado Villalba. If you prefer public transport, there are buses that leave from Moncloa bus station in Madrid and drop you off in Navacerrada.
What to see: Navacerrada is a very popular place for hiking, as there are many routes of different levels of difficulty in the Sierra de Guadarrama. You can also visit the Monastery of Santa María de El Paular in Rascafría, which is about 30 minutes' drive away. Other places of interest include the Navacerrada Bullring and the church of San Bernabé.
What to eat: As in many places in the Sierra Madrileña, Navacerrada's gastronomy is based on hearty, traditional dishes. Some typical dishes include cocido madrileño stew, roast lamb, beans with partridge and patatas revolconas. You can also try some local cheeses, such as Cercedilla goat's cheese.
When to go: Navacerrada is a popular place to visit all year round. In winter, it is a popular place for skiing at the Navacerrada ski resort. In spring and summer, you can enjoy nature and hiking in the mountains. There are also many fiestas and festivals throughout the year, such as the Fiesta de la Nieve in February, the Feria de la Cerveza Artesanal in April and the Feria de la Tapa in September.
